Eloise de Leon has been involved in the arts all her life. She is an experienced actress, filmmaker, writer, arts administrator and artist coach. Her service to the field includes serving on the Boards of Directors of the San Diego Performing Arts League, Sushi Performance and Visual Arts, The American Festival Project and on the steering committee of the National Performance Network. Eloise served as Performance Curator at the Centro Cultural de la Raza (a landmark Chicano cultural art space); Executive Director of the San Diego Dance Alliance; and she has long-term experience teaching video and computer skills to teens in foster care.
Academically, Eloise de Leon earned an M.A. from San Diego State University in Counseling Education, a program specializing in cross-cultural counseling. She went on to earn an M.F.A. in Visual Arts from the University of California San Diego, specializing in performance art and film. UC MEXUS, a research residency program for post-graduate fellows, awarded her a two-year artist residency which was a turning point experience in her work as an artist.
Eloise de Leon has recently produced and directed a new documentary film, Colors of Compassion: Teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh. It premieres at BuddhaFest Film Festival in Washington, D.C., on June 19, 2010. She is a contributor to the newly released book, Together We Are One: Honoring Our Diversity, Celebrating Our Connection by Thich Nhat Hanh (Parallax Press, April 2010).
Coaching and healing work has been a central line extending throughout Eloise's adult life. She is a Master Reiki practitioner. Eloise offers energy healing and emotional support for anyone that is in emotional or physical change or distress. She specializes in working with people diagnosed with cancer.
